Case Study

Industry:  Iron Ore Mining
Product:  Safetech service lift table for bucket wheel reclaimer

Problem

Service of bucket wheels is a common and potentially risky activity. Longstanding practice at many mines uses a forklift to ‘tilt’ a frame that supports a bucket wheel. The fork lift tilts the frame into a position aligned to the angle of the bucket wheel. The fork would then hold it in place while service crew climbed into the bucket to put pins in place and hold it in position. This unsafe practice had to be stopped.

Solution

Safetech 3 tonne Scissor LiftA 3 tonne scissor lift was designed with a special oscillating platform operated hydraulically. The custom lifting platform can tilt in multiple directions the operators can easily release the holding pins and lower the bucket wheel safely. Heavy duty castors were also fitted to allow the scissor lift to bea easily wheeled into and out of position.

The end result is a durable, reliable solution that improves both productivity and safety
